Private Residence
The town house is one of four 3-bedroom town houses, designed for 4 brothers on a narrow 25 x 80 metre lot facing two access roads. In concept, each town house is a U-shaped structure with its own private internal court plus a large shared garden between the two lots for the children to play in.
A uniform spatial, structural and mechanical module was used for all the houses with each brother deciding within a fixed framework the nature and type of space he preferred.

Kuwait Waterfront Project
The Kuwait Waterfront Project was won by competition in 1976. The first stage of the work involved the development of a recreational Master Plan for the 22 km. urban shoreline of Kuwait City. The Master Plan proposed for the waterfront has two main components. Major use areas which act as central foci, and design modules which were proto-typical design elements which could be located throughout the Waterfront area in limitless combinations, and as determined by need.
The Major use areas were a childrens water park, development of the Sief Palace harbour area, offshore Dhow Museum, a green Island, a yacht harbour, an aquarium.
The activity design modules were beaches, boat launches, pedestrian walks, fishing piers, restaurants, diwaniya and Western seating areas, parking, service centers etc. The unifying design modules were colour, texture, lighting landscape, graphics, wateredge treatments etc.

Kuwait Conference Centre
We received first prize on this design that was submitted to an international competition. The program required the main conference centre be designed to be used for conferences of all visiting Arab heads of state. The program called for, beside the main conference centre, 27 luxurious villas for the heads of state, complete living, recreational, security and parking facilities for all accompanying staff. Foremost in the requirements was the need for absolute security from which the central raised mound concept of our design evolved.

Amiri Diwan of Kuwait
An extremely difficult competition where we were expected in a short time to develop a total planning concept for the area and detail plans for the buildings. The program called for the integration of the area into the city urban fabric; the preservation and renovation of all existing structures on the site; the design of new headquarters for the Amir of Kuwait, the Prime Minister, the Council of Ministers and the National Arts Council. Besides security the need to echo the principles of Islamic culture were foremost in the given requirements.
