Dear Maria Teresa Cruz-Garcia,

I was quite amused to receive your letter, particularly your request for a quick response. In the Middle East a quick response means a reply within 6 months!!!

I personally work for the government, and we don’t hire summer staff. However I will photostat your qualifications and request and pass them to the three largest Architectural Firms in Kuwait, and most probably the only ones who might hire someone for the summer, and ask them to contact you if they are interested.

I would however like to point out that it is not easy for a woman to work in Kuwait. You would first find tremendous difficulty in getting an apartment (a task that usually takes 3 months in itself), and nobody rents furnished apartments here. You will not be able to drive, as it usually takes 6 months to get a driving licence and public transport is poor, and to make things more exciting, (besides there being total prohibition in Kuwait) the temperature from June to September is a dependable 120°F. in the shade!!!

If I can be of any further assistance to you please do not hesitate to write.

Good luck,

GHAZI SULTAN
